The IWACO Power Girls Program was successfully carried out as planned. Two secondary schools in Laikipia North Sub-county were visited: Kurum Day Secondary School and Doldol Day Secondary School.
Objective: The aim was to engage the students, both boys and girls, in a motivational talk that focused on the importance of education, the dangers of early marriages, FGM (Female Genital Mutilation), early pregnancies, and drug abuse.
Activities
- A series of talks were delivered to both boys and girls about the significance of education in transforming their futures.
- The girls received valuable guidance and counseling about avoiding harmful practices like FGM and early marriages.
- The program culminated in the distribution of sanitary towels to the girls in the schools, with 69 girls in Kurum and 96 girls in Doldol benefiting from the donation.
Outcomes: Both schools expressed immense gratitude for the program, with students showing increased enthusiasm towards education and health awareness. The distribution of sanitary towels was particularly well received, helping to address a critical need among the girls.
